To strengthen our R&D Software team, we offer a challenging position for a decisive, hands-on and people-driven Project Manager R&D.

As Project Manager in the R&D Software team at GenDx, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation in molecular diagnostics for transplantation and beyond. Motivated by the ambition to make diagnostics faster, easier and more accurate, you lead the development and continuous improvement of software solutions that support laboratories worldwide.

In this role, you combine strong technical expertise with clear leadership. You guide and support a team of software developers and bioinformaticians, while remaining closely involved in the technical content. You create structure, safeguard quality, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and in compliance with regulatory standards.

You are both a sparring partner on a technical level and a motivating force for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and coordinate the R&D Software team (software developers and bioinformaticians).
  • Drive the development and maintenance of new and existing software products.
  • Translate technological advancements and user needs into robust, high-quality software solutions.
  • Set clear priorities, monitor progress and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Contribute hands-on to software design, development and technical decision-making where needed.
  • Safeguard software quality, documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with IVDR guidelines and software lifecycle standard IEC 62304.
  • Act as a key technical point of contact for internal stakeholders.

What you bring

  • MSc or PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Ideally 1+ year(s) of experience in a commercial or industry setting.
  • Proven experience in software development and maintenance.
  • Strong sense of ownership, structure and quality.
  • Independent, decisive and hands-on working style.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with IVDR and IEC 62304 is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of software performance evaluation under IVDR is a plus.
  • Affinity with (transplantation) immunology is a plus.
  • Experience with bioinformatics is a plus.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • You currently live near Utrecht Science Park or are willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the GenDx office.
  • Please note that you must be legally eligible to live and work in the Netherlands.
