I am very happy to have co-authored the paper “Using Cloud Infrastructure to Facilitate Data Collection and Conversion of HLA Diagnostic Data for the 18th International HLA and
Immunogenetics Workshop ” together with Ben Mattern, Matthias Niemann, Eric Spierings et al.

The International HLA and Immunogenetics Workshop (IHIW) is a recurring gathering of researchers, technologists and clinicians where participants contribute to collaborative projects with a variety of goals, and come to consensus on definitions and standards for representing HLA and immunogenic determinants. In the paper we summarize all the technological challenges we overcame in order to be able to host the large scale of data needed for the IHIW website. At the same time the website needed to be simple, functional and user friendly and bring together data from many lab leaders.

Other qualities we focused on were data integrity and privacy as most of the handled data are sensitive scientific data. By the above, the continuation of data and research uploaded are
guaranteed to continue to future workshops.
