Aimi Stavrou PhD
Aimi studied Biology at the University of Athens, where she mainly focused on molecular phylogenetics of pathogenic fungi. She was always fascinated by invasive fungal infections and their impact on human health so she pursued a MSc in Medical Mycology. In 2016, she moved to Utrecht to work as a PhD student on opportunistic yeast infections in the Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity institute. The main focus was developing qPCR-based diagnostic tools to faster and more accurately detect drug-resistant yeasts. During this time she was particularly interested into the troubleshooting process for multiplex qPCR reactions and primer design. Aimi is excited to be joining the GenDx support team and to be part of a company with a focus on patients. She is looking forward to using her skills to assist our customers with any question or issue.
