According to the Ministry of Public Health, several thousand people in the Netherlands are diagnosed with leukemia every year. More often than not such patients will need stem cell transplants, and finding matching donors for some patients can still be a challenge.
We had an extensive discussion with Jaap Dijkman, the director of MatchIs, a Dutch center for stem cell donations about present situation in the field of stem cell donation. Through our conversation, we gained an insight into current developments, remaining issues and upcoming changes in the field.
