Hanneke studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Utrecht. As a student she worked on topics varying from protein function to genetic alterations in cancer to Cow’s milk allergy. In 2013 she started her PhD at the Dermatology department of the VUmc, Amsterdam. Here she studied the role of endothelial cells in hypertrophic scar formation and the suitability of adipose-derived endothelial cells for tissue engineering. Working in a department with a strong focus on improving diagnostics and patient healthcare inspired her to further pursue a career in a company also having this mission. Hanneke joined GenDx shortly after finishing her PhD in 2018 and now contributes to our mission from several angles within GenDx.
